Mark Teixeira and Ron Mahay have been traded to the Braves from the Rangers for Jarrod Saltalamacchia and 3 other prospects. What exactly are the Braves getting in Mark Teixeira, or "Tex"? He has a lifetime batting average of .283 and has hit 153 homers in his 4 1/2 career. The 1st baseman has the versatility of the playing third base or the outfield. He has a .995 fielding percentage. He is a two time gold glove winner and a two time silver slugger. He also has been an all star. He played at Georgia Tech so he is familiar with the city. He could push the Braves into the playoffs and maybe even the World Series. And all we had to give up was Jarrod Saltalamachia and a few prospects.
